"Music in Central Valley" Concert Series

Kairos is delighted to appear as guest artist on the "Music in Central Valley" Concert Series and will present "Immortal Shakespeare", selected works of musical settings of Shakespeare’s works (both a cappella and accompanied) in honor of the 400th anniversary of the playwright’s death. The works draw inspiration from a variety of Shakespeare's works, including A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, Macbeth, Twelfth Night, Cymbeline, and several of his beautiful sonnets. You'll even be treated to a witty setting of 62 insults! Pianist Ruthanne Schempf and violinist Shayna Skibinsky will join Kairos for this wonderful concert!

This concert is made possible in part with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.

Annual Sinterklaas Festival

Kairos will once again perform at Rhinebeck's annual Sinterklaas Festival, a day-long, colorful celebration that features children’s workshops, dance, theatre and music all over the village of Rhinebeck. Please check back in the coming weeks for the exact times and locations of Kairos' performances, which will include seasonal hymns, motets and carols from the Renaissance to the present!

Annual Service of Lessons & Carols

Kairos will present its annual Service of Lessons & Carols at the Monastery. The service will intersperse readings from the Old and New Testaments with seasonal hymns, motets and carols. The service will conclude with a performance of J. S. Bach's joyous motet Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied.
A free-will offering will be gratefully accepted and matched by the Monastery, which will benefit local charitable organizations. This service has become a much-beloved tradition in the Hudson Valley, so please arrive at the Monastery at least 20 minutes before the service in order to ensure admission as seating is limited. A holiday reception will follow the service and all are cordially invited.
