John Forbis was a founding member of Kairos when it began in 1994, and Kairos is excited about his return to the group in the Fall of 2016. John is a member of the Order of the Holy Cross. Prior to his return to West Park this past summer, he lived at the Mariya uMama weThemba Monastery in Grahamstown, South Africa for the past 18 years . He wrote publicity for the house as well as served as novice master, providing for the training and formation for new men who joined the monastery and the Order.  He holds degrees from the North Carolina School of the Arts (where he studied trombone performance) and the University of Michigan. Before joining the order he was music librarian at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. John has had a number of his poems published in several anthologies and on-line.
